This is what I said..... What is a short description of your "style"?: Classic elegant style, with a touch of fabulous-glam. What are your favorite wardrobe colors?: I love vibrant jewel tone colors with black or brown core colors. What places do you like to shop for clothing and accessories?:  I travel a lot, and find myself shopping in little shops to find unique pieces. But when I am home (North Little Rock) My go-to places are Jeante’ and Luv Boutiques both owned by Tanya Hemphill. She has an eye for bringing celebrity fashions as seen on Television to Little Rock at great prices. I also shop online. Dresses and suits are my favorite wardrobe pieces, with a blend of high and moderate-end, for a “wow†presentation. When it comes to purses, I am a Brahmin lady, but for my 55th birthday, I purchased a Louis Vuitton monogram Vernis Alma GM. When it come to shoes I love platforms, they give you height without your feet suffering. I am a fan of statement pieces.  Unique bling and glamorous jewelry, are a few of my personal signatures. What did you learn early about fashion?: My grandmother Mary Stubbs was the person that taught me about fashion and style. Along with watching Diahann Carroll on “Julia†a 70’s sitcom. I learned, if you buy classic pieces with great lines, that fit you well no matter your size, you will always be the one in the room that everyone wants to know. What are favorite compliments you hear on your sartorial style when you're out and about?: Strangers come up to me and say you are stunning, I love the way you put your outfit together or I love your smile. I just think this happens because I truly love people, and they can feel it.  What's the most treasured item in your wardrobe? My St. John Knits Collection. A few years ago, I discussed with my First Lady, Dr. Jennifer Johnson, the photos of my vision board which included the St. John Knits collection.  I have always wanted to wear this line. Fast forward one year later, during one of our bi-yearly Women’s retreat, Dr. Johnson planted the first seed toward my first St. John piece, I’m very grateful for her generosity. That opened the door to my personal collection of more than twenty St. John pieces.  When my husband, Larry Bennett, wants to surprise me, St. John has now become one of his go-to gifts. Something you've worn just about plumb out? My Dennis Basso black mink faux fur, I’ve had it for more than fourteen years. When my husband and I go to New York City in December or January for our anniversary or any special event it works perfectly.  What particular clothing item would you say you have most of? In general, I have a lot of clothes.  My weight goes up and down, so when clothing items no longer fit me, I bless others with them, and replace what I gave away.  I have a jewelry collection that is awesome, if I do say so myself. Due to my quality upgrade for the past few years, shoes and handbags are running neck and neck. What is the one thing you would never wear? I really don’t care much for pants or jeans. However, I have a few pairs for casual events, my husband likes to see me in them. But, I feel I can rule the world in a great dress or suit.  When you're checking out how people dress, what are some of your biggest pet peeves/"Glamour Don'ts"? Not blending your eyeshadow. Not getting your eyebrows arched. Not getting a pedicure, and wearing sandals. What are some fashion or image tips that have helped you over the years?: I have been very fortunate to learn several tips throughout my professional career that have become my tried-and-true: I’m a list maker, if you love shopping, then make lists, it's like your personal assistant. It will make your life easier, help you save money and time. It keeps you focused on the items you actually need and the stores you need to go to.  When I am conducting an image makeover with a client, I tell them to make sure you always try clothes on when shopping. We assume a size or brand fits the same, but there are times when they do not. I also bring along my clients accessories and shoes or utilize the accessories at the store to capture the overall all image look.   When purchasing your wardrobe, remember this fashion rule. 80% of your wardrobe should be your core pieces, (work, church and special events) and 20% leisure (jeans, casual and workout).  I incorporate a blend of high and moderate-end. Most people can not tell the difference. Quality does not always mean expensive, you have to know your designers and brands. I believe you should create a "persona" for your look, people say to me, “ You always look so put together.†I plan daily to create a look for that day. I always dress for the occasion and take it to what I call, celebrity status. There's nothing worse than arriving to an event or meeting underdressed. Maybe the invite or meeting didn't specify the word casual, but everyone else dressed up. If you don't know the dress code, always overdress. There's no harm in looking too pulled together, but you'll feel uncomfortable if you think you look out of place. Also remember, there are always trends and fads entering the fashion market, that’s how designers make their money.  Stay true to your personal brand, and if you are a professional, yes you have a brand like it or not. I look for cuts and styles that I know work best for my body type. Some styles I don’t even take a peak at. Because I already know the style does not work for me. When it comes to makeup, I stay with what works for me. Recently I discovered companies will discontinue a product without notice so always have a back up and/or explore new companies.I thank God for “body shapers†they have evolved so much!  We can now  breathe. Body shapers are ideal for hiding excess bulge or muffin tops and allows clothes to glide on smoothly. These tools make the outfit! I believe your confidence is affected by what you're wearing. So if you're feeling self-conscious about your outfit, you're likely to tug or check on it every minute. If you “feel†uncomfortable you will most likely look uncomfortable. Ladies remember you are a total package.
